Aqua Seal Mask Review

Reviewed by: Dave Nielsen

Aqual Seal Masks are a different kind of swim goggle. Instead of tight lenses that fit in your eye sockets, Seal Masks are closer to a scuba diving mask, providing a much more comfortable fit and a wider field of vision.

Some pros complain that the Seal Mask goggle isn't as hydrodynamic as they'd like, so Aqua Sphere has come out with the new lower-profile Seal XP.

The Seal Mask has:

  • Dive-quality silicone skirt provides comfortable, watertight fit
  • 100% UVA and UVB protection
  • Patented Plexisol lens optics provide superior 180-degree visibility
  • Anti-fog coating

The Seal Mask Comes in four lens types and multiple frame colors:

Clear

Good for swimming indoors or in low light situations.

Tinted

Good while swimming outdoors or in bright light.

Mirrored

Also good while swimming outdoors or in bright light situations.

Amber

Best all-around lens for a variety of situations by enhancing available light.

This is the swim mask that I use for daily training and in competition. It fits my face pretty well (I have kind of a longer face, instead of round) and I don't have problems with leaking. I do struggle at times in keeping the goggles from fogging up on longer swims, however.

The Seal Mask goggles have a much bigger surface area than normal goggles, and might explain why they seem to have more of a problem with fogging. To solve this problem, I find that if I use anti-fog spray regularly they don't fog up until about 60 minutes into a swim.
